Tyan Typhoon PSC: Desktop Personalized Supercomputing (Link)

Supercomputing comes down to the desk-side! TYAN Typhoon Personal Super Computer (PSC) solutions provide performance processing for science, research, and development applications without the noise overhead and massive size of full-scale clusters and supercomputers. The TYPHOON product line is designed to deliver power as well as convenience, offering the promise of supercomputing power at a fraction of the cost!
There have been three problems with doing this before: heat, power and noise. But Tyan seemed to have solved this problem. The Typhoon PSC comes in 2 versions, Typhoon PSC (B2881) & Typhoon PSC (B5160).
Typhoon PSC (B2881)is a Dual AMD Opteron™ System with four (4) Tyan Thunder K8SRE (S2881G2NR) motherboards. The system can accommodate up to eight (8) AMD Opteron™ HE processors. It has (8) 184-pin 2.5V DDR DIMM sockets each node up to 64GB of reg., ECC DDR 400/333 memory.
Typhoon PSC (B5160) is a Single Intel® Pentium® D System with four (4) Tyan Tomcat i7230A (S5160) motherboards. This system can accommodate up to four (4) Intel® Pentium® D processors and has Dual Core support. It has (4) 240-pin DDR2 DIMM sockets each node up to 32GB unbuffered DDR2 533/667 mem.
Both systems have (6) fans each and supports Microsoft Windows or Linux. The target usage for those PSC are Personalized Supercomputing, Model Analysis, "Small Science", Research Simulations, HPC. The Typhoon PSC is currently sampling, and will reach mass production levels in Q2'06.
